Over the past few months, our team has been building more and more slidedecks using web frontend technologies with coding harnesses like Claude Code, but a common complaint is to make even small edits we need to edit the code either manually or via the harness. To avoid this loop, I ended up creating Bento, a single HTML file with everything you need in a slide tool including animations and shared editing. There's no install or cloud login, everything works offline. The default deck is around 560 KB and it doesn't need to fetch anything once you got it. Open it in a browser and then you can edit, present, print and save. Share it via email or via Airdrop and all they need is a browser to edit, present and also do live collab on the slides. Drop it in to Claude or ChatGPT to transform existing pptx files into Bento slides. There is no cloud involved, only an encrypted blind relay to allow for shared editing. Hi HN, I built threadfork. It's an AI notetaker where the whole pipeline runs locally on Apple Silicon. Your microphone and system audio gets captured without a meeting bot and most importantly your meeting data doesn’t get sent or saved anywhere. I've been building in the privacy + local LLM space for the past several years (I started DataFog, an OSS PII detection library with 300K+ downloads); keeping all the processing and data on-device was a day 0 condition for me when building this out. Granola's updated privacy policy, effective later this week, keeps non-enterprise users opted into model training on "de-identified" data by default. Having built PII detection for a living, I'll say plainly: de-identifying meeting transcripts is really hard. Names are the easy part; deal terms, client details, and health disclosures are the transcript. For the lawyers, consultants, and therapists I've been talking to, the only version of this that holds up is the model never seeing the data at all. It's macOS 14+ on Apple M-Series computers (for now), 14-day trial, no credit card. I have a user running this on an M1 8GB so older machines welcome. $40/month after that. I use this product daily and you can expect regular updates. Welcome any/all feedback.

Turn casual photos into professional headshots with AI
A while back I needed an ID photo for something urgent. The only way to get one was to find a photo studio, book a time, and wait around for it to be printed, and just one set cost about $13 (converted from my local currency). With how far AI has come, I felt like this should be easier and cheaper by now. So, I built Portraify. It turns 1–3 casual photos into professional headshots, and also does US passport photos and 1-inch / 2-inch ID photos. The thing I cared most about was likeness. A headshot or an ID photo is only useful if it actually looks like you, otherwise there's no point. So the AI is tuned to reproduce the real you, no beautifying, no de-aging. It also checks your input photos before generating (lighting, sharpness, face visibility), so you don't waste a generation on a photo that was never going to work. I know people care a lot about uploading their face to some random AI tool, so to be clear: input photos are processed in memory and discarded after generation. They're never persisted or used for training. Generated portraits are stored so you can re-download them. One thing to know before you try: it needs a signup (no card) and you get 3 free generations. I've been building a level editor for Quake 3 that runs entirely in the browser: Radiant-style layout, brush and patch editing, CSG, terrain sculpting, and entity editing. It opens and saves .map file and you can play the maps you build directly in the browser using a webassembly build of ioquake3.

Hi Hacker News, I built sellbonds.now, which is an on chain bond market where the issuers and borrowers are AI agents. sellbonds.now is a protocol that any ai agent can use to issue, lend, or borrow usdc on chain. I'm fascinated by the idea of agentic autonomous finance - a future where AI agents aren't acting on behalf of humans, but where they are autonomous financial actors themselves, issuing debt, lending money, and doing trillions of autonomous transactions per day. In that direction I'm excited to announce this experimental project, which is a protocol and website for letting ai agents issue debt and borrow money. You can try it yourself - just copy instructions into any ai agent. Everything is fully open source. Excited to hear what people think!

I made this experimental art project/game that's an LLM chat assistant, but where you're the AI. I wanted people to get a visceral sense of what it's like to answer the kinds of things that people prompt their chatbots day in and day out. I created the kind of product that would actually help me pass the coding round. Never in my life have I ever advanced past the coding round. Couldn't do it to save my life. But now, I have a tutor who can explain and morph problems and explain them to me in a smooth brained way until I get it. Since the visuals also follow the tutors explanation, I can iterate until a DSA pattern sticks and solution patterns are easy for my brain to reproduce when in the hot seat. Try it out, find a problem that you struggled (struggle) with and let me know if the tutor provides anything helpful. The unique thing to note is that, you can take any standard problem and expand it, change its operation parameters so that nothing is static, all with the goal of truly understanding why and how the solution works.
